06 June 2004 - Hi, it's me again. I know it's been a long time but you should know by now this is sporadic.
To make up for lost time I'm going to tell you a joke..
A man goes to his doctors with a hearing problem.
"What are the symptoms?" asks the Doctor.
"Eh?" says the man.
"I said, WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS" says the doctor.
"They're a yellow family who live in Springfields, but I
don't know what that's got to do with my ears!" replies the
man.
Yes, I groaned when I heard it.
Deep joy! I'm not going to dwell too much on this but today I
finally managed to nail the award 8!! Whoopee, wanna see my badge?
Well here it is anyway. For those of you who are regular readers you will have worked out that it is over a year since my last award (not counting the magnificent trophy I won in February 2004). At this rate I may achieve award 10 by the time I'm 50. Well it's something to aim at!
I did have a long acceptance speech prepared for this occasion but I forgot it ages ago so I'd just like to thank the coaches, my parents, my family for their support, God and of course the makers of "Deep Heat" for the pain relief.
13 June 2004 - Oops! Do you know when you start to get a little over confident? Well that when things can go very wrong.
I started work on award 9 and I have to say, you must be joking! Don't hold your breath while waiting for the next badge to appear. One of the required moves is a 3/4 turnover which I though I had just about mastered. For some reason I did this really low, caught my fingers on the bed as I was going over and landed very high on the shoulders. One finger on right hand swollen and one finger on left hand nail pulled back (real blood!). Well at least it was straight. Suddenly the confidence has evaporated.
(footnote: like milk, the confidence condensed again and with the help of a bit of skillful coaching I was back to my old tricks again on 3 July including some more 3/4 turnovers. I'm sure there is more bouncing to be done soon but for now it's silly season time (hols!!!) and I will have to catch up with the diary later. Wherever you are this summer I hope the sun shines for you and you have a great time.)
