First Steps - FAQ
A: A Rudi, or Rudolph, is a single front somersault
with one and a half twists. The move is named after a the stage
performer Dave Roudolph who first performed this skill in the
1920's...... A: The minimum ceiling height for Grade 1&2 comeptition
is 8M (about 26 feet). Typically competitors at this level will
reach 5M to 6M height (about 18 feet). However you can, and should,
start quite low as it requires a great skill and balance to bounce
at these heights...... Q: What age can you start trampolining? A: Starting age varies depending upon the coach as
there is no set minimum (or maximum age). At one end of the age
scale you must be old enough to take instruction, particularly
from a safety point of view, and heavy enough to gain rebound
from the trampoline. We do a pre-school class from ages 0 to 6
to give awareness and the feel of the trampoline. The beginners
class starts at age 6. At the other end of the scale you can take
up trampolining at any age providing you have a reasonable level
of fitness. If in doubt it would be advisable to take medical
advice before throwing yourself into it...... Q: Where can I buy a trampoline? A: As with any sport, trampolining is potentially
dangerous and hence it is not advisable to buy your own trampoline
unless you have been properly trained. Even then you may want
to think about storage, the availability of spotters and the possibility
someone else may become injured through unsupervised use (e.g.
children). If you are certain that you have considered all the
practical and safety issues associated with trampoline ownership
you will find lots of suppliers by searching on the web. The best
option, however, is to join a club...... Q: How much does it cost to do trampolining? A: It depends on the club you are interested in. Local
council facilities will probably charge £2 to £3 per session,
deicated clubs will charge slightly more and an annual club fee.
You will also need to register with BAGA, at £14.50 per year.
Competition fees are about £6 to £7.50 per event. In general the
costs are in line with other sporing activities, for instance
swimming....... Q: Where can I find my nearest club? A: We have a list of clubs on our links page, but you
can also search the internet...... |
